new server hog pile
Then enters the unsuspecting ha_a , we all know him, we all were him at some time. I think though, times have changed, i remember being new and being welcomed to the game, taken under the wing of someone more experienced, given a home and flourishing. i just don't see this being the case anymore, somewhere along the line some experienced players, who I will call Ed, figured out the value of a ha , who i will call Harry. the value of Harry turns out to be 1K prestige points and the possibility of more. Harry became a commodity. Now Ed didnt start out to think this way, I think Ed wanted to help, the problem came when he figured out how many Harry's there were, and that it was really easy to get those points. More points means more status, we all want to be on the leader board, it's a game after all.
Going to the world chat room at the beginning of a new server is like watching a football game. Play is in action and the ball slips out of someones hand, we can watch it, slowly fall to the ground, passing through all the players fingers, until finally the ball hits the ground. On top of it, a pile of players crunches down. Yes, you get it, Harry is the one on the bottom.
Its almost funny watching the copy and paste messages that Ed uses over and over:
complete tasks 1-4, then do task 5, refer the person who helped you the most.
And sure as one Harry shows up, the next one is not far behind, the first one already forgotten and shoved aside; and we see:
complete tasks 1-4, then do task 5, refer the person who helped you the most.
sometimes I'd swear it was spamming.
Don't get me wrong Ed, sometimes you're somone who actually takes the time to help Harry. Amazing when that happens, because Harry often stays and plays. We all complain when there is no one left and the servers dead, but how many did we cause to leave by not helping them at the start?
And Harry, if you're reading this, hang in there, keep looking! There are a lot of Ed's who will help you along the way.
