Well.......You can't beat lvl 10 scouting even if you have lvl 10 scouting. But you can get a vague report on what they have. You'll have to go with that.

"Several" 0~9
"One or two dozen" 10~24
"Dozens" 25~49
"Scores" 50~99
"One or two hundred" 100~249
"Several hundred" 250~499
"Hundred" 500~999
"One or two thousand" 1000~2499
"Several thousand" 2500~4999
"Thousands" 5000~9999
"Over 100 hundred" >=10000

Also Why would you be looking for People with lvl 10 scouting?

You could also send 1 cavalry to check out troop numbers (but this might alert them)

You should already know a rough amount of troops that your soldiers are guaranteed to be able to kill, and so if the rough estimation is equal to and/or lower than the amount you can kill, you should consider going for it. Have fun! ^^

Ok you pretty much solved my question sky

It makes me really angry to send 1 cav and have it a hidden attack, then send my army and have it not hidden though :/ ...
