This happens to me a lot.

Try restarting your iphone\whatever you use.

if that doesn't work try seeing if you have any wifi at all.

Actually, while this may work, it is much easier to simply:
1) Quit out of the game.
2) Double click your home button.
3) Hold down on Haypi in the bar that appears then click the red minus symbol.
4) Return to the game and click "Start Game."

It should be fixed.
