I like the new troops idea a lot and I'm sure it'll add more fun to the game and extend it to the next level.
I didn't read all the posts on this topic, so I'm not sure the things I'm going to say have already been talked about or not, so here it goes!
I like the idea of having new troops, but I don't agree with completely new troop types. Since this game is based on the medieval times, I think it should stick with the four types of troop. However, as we level up (both player's level and barrack's level), we can build a stronger version of the troops that add more power to them.
At player level 1, barrack level 1, inf, cav, arch and cat can be built.
Lv1 inf:
Life: 150
Attack: 75
Defense: 75
Range: 25
Speed: 150
Overload: 80
Lv1 cav:
Life: 500
Attack: 175
Defense: 175
Range: 40
Speed: 300
Overload: 100
Lv1 arch:
Life: 125
Attack: 60
Defense: 25
Range: 600
Speed: 125
Overload: 40
Lv1 cat:
Life: 450
Attack: 300
Defense: 100
Range: 800
Speed: 50
Overload: 40
At player level 10, barrack level 10, lv2 inf, cav, arch and cat can be built. Of course each unit will have a new name, I just don't want to come up with the names here. Here are the detail for lv2 units:
Lv2 inf:
Life: 300
Attack: 100
Defense: 150
Range: 40
Speed: 120
Overload: 120
This unit wears heavy armor and carries a big shield, so its life and defense attributes have increased incredibly. It also attacks with a spear, so the range is a little longer than using sword. However, since it's wearing such heavy armor and heavy shield, that will slow down their moving speed. It also has a chance remove traps that are level 4 or lower. This unit is good against cav and cat.
Lv2 cav:
Life: 600
Attack: 200
Defense: 200
Range: 40
Speed: 600
Overload: 150
This unit has a very fast moving speed and it can carry more resources. It may not be a good type of troops in battle, but it sure is a good choice for hunting.
Lv2 arch:
Life: 200
Attack: 150
Defense: 40
Range: 700
Speed: 100
Overload: 40
This unit uses long bow as its weapon (if lv 1 is using long bow, then this one can be crossbow), so the range and damage have increased. However, since it's using a heavier weapon, its speed is decreased.
Lv2 cat:
Life: 700
Attack: 600
Defense: 100
Range: 900
Speed: 40
Overload: 40
This unit has extremely high attack power and longest range among all units. Instead of shooting one giant rock each time, it's shooting two at level 2, thus it's dealing double the damage. However this unit has low defense (same as level 1 cat) and moves even slower.
When players reach level 18, barrack level 18, level 3 units can be built.
Lv3 inf:
Life: 600
Attack: 75
Defense: 500
Range: 25
Speed: 125
Overload: 120
This unit has the highest defense among all units. Each unit carries a giant shield to protect other units behind them. It is the best meat shield in the game. Level 3 inf has a chance to remove level 8 or lower traps.
Lv3 cav:
Life: 600
Attack: 350
Defense: 350
Range: 60
Speed: 200
Overload: 150
This unit wears heavy armor and carries a spear, even its horse is armored with heavy gear. Thus its attack and defense are highly buffed, life and range have increased slightly. However, since it's wearing heavy armor, its moving speed is decreased.
Lv3 arch:
Life: 200
Attack: 120
Defense: 40
Range: 600
Speed: 125
Overload: 40
This unit uses the same type of bow as level 1 arch, thus its range and moving speed are same as level 1 arch. However, instead of regular arrow, this unit uses fire arrow. It will not only damage the unit that's hit directly, it will also burn the unit for one additional turn for extra damage. This burn damage can be stack up 3 times. So for example, A's arch attacked B's unit on turn 1, killed 100 units directly, the burn damage would kill extra 5 units (5% of the damage). Then on turn 2, A's arch attacked the same unit, killed another 100, but this time, the burn damage would kill extra 10 units (10% of the damage). Likewise, the damage can go up to 15% max. In addition to the burn damage, the fire arrows will set the battle ground on fire for 2 turns, so any units that passed that line within 2 turns will be damaged as well. For example, on turn 1, B's cav moved forward 300, and A's level 3 arch was able to hit it, so A's fire arrow will set the battle field on fire at the 300 yard spot for 2 turns. So on turn 2, B's inf moved forward and cross the 300 yard spot, they would suffer the burn damage.
Lv3 cat:
Life: 700
Attack: 800
Defense: 100
Range: 900
Speed: 40
Overload: 40
This unit shoots a giant fire rock to the opponent. It also gives a burn damage and set the battle ground on fire like level 3 arch.
When going to battle, a player can only pick one type of each type of unit to fight. For example, A has 100 Lv1 inf and 100 Lv3 inf, he then can only choose to use either his Lv1 or Lv3 inf. That way a player can't have Lv1, Lv2 and Lv3 cats in the same battle.
In terms of defense, if a player has more than 4 types of unit, he can go into the command center (new function) and preset his formation (choose which 4 types of unit to use and set them to forward/wait/backward). However, if a player had both Lv1 inf and Lv3 inf in the city, and he preset Lv3 inf to be used in battle, but someone killed all his Lv3 inf in a battle, then his Lv1 inf would automatically go into the next battle.
