Markets - Troops

What if haypi changed the game so that troops could be available to buy and sell at different prices just like resources are sold?
I reckon it would be interesting.
Catapults would, of course, be dearer than just say, infantry or archers, and calvary more than them last two.
Sure, it might change the game, make it easier to gain troops, but think of the endless positive posibilities!! ;)
It's just a suggestion, for everyone to think about.

Re: Markets - Troops

Ok I was thinking about this idea aswell but i think it would involve such a large change to the game that it could never happen. Firstly Large Armies would be more common so Forts and oasises would have to be remodelled to be harder to take. Also If you could just buy 200 cats at once with no training time noone would buy Resources as its alot easier just to get a large army by buying it. So Basically I like the idea but it would take to long, invole to much work by the developers so it won't happen sos.

Lol I thought of this idea yesterday but, then you wouldn't get any prestige or anything!!
Unless if people had like a trade like 20 infantry= 1 cat!!
Something like that!!

Re: Markets - Troops

Honestly, this idea at first glance seems like a really BAD idea. BUT, when you think about it a little more, I actually really like the idea.
First - Whoever buys the troops would get no Pres from building them.
Second - The person selling the troops still has to support them with crops and can not use them in battle if they are on the market.

For those of you who think that this would hurt the resource market, think again. I buy a lot of resources on the market to build troops, then suicide them into a fort and rebuild. Instead of Suiciding them, I could turn around and sell them and make back more money to buy more resources from the market.
As far as changing the make-up of Forts, I don't think that would be needed, as long as they set a Min Price for each unit on the market. Min Price would need to be high enough so Low Levels couldn't buy a huge army out the gate. Example( Inf = 12gp, Cav = 50gp, Archer = 25gp, Cat = 100gp). Those would be the Min Rates. People could definitely sell them for more.
As far as Prestige goes, this would allow people who have been wiped out an easy way to rebuild and actually put more prestige on the map because no one would suicide troops.

As far as the instantaneous gain of troops, maybe change it so that if you buy troops, they are "Dispatched" from whatever city was selling them and it takes that long to get them.

Re: Markets - Troops

Good points kcmathews i think it would be interesting.

Maybe if the haypi people created one new server where things were different people could be nominated to go and try that server and report/reply to how well the scheme went, what went good and what went bad.

I would be worth it, wouldn't it? To be able to have a change in the game that may make it more interesting...

Re: Markets - Troops

I think that this would make the gamer easier and not as fun. You wouldn't have to work to get an army.

Re: Markets - Troops

Devryan13,
You'd still have to work to get an army because you gotta get that gold from somewhere to buy the troops. if you take my Min Price idea into account, an army of 2500 cats would cost at least 250K.
So this doesn't mean people don't have to work, cause you still would. this would just allow people who stockpile money and have their army wiped out a chance to get back into the fight quicker...

I thought about this a little more and I decide their was definitely a BIG potential for abuse with this.
Example
Person A: Builds 2000 cats(gets the pres from building them) and sells them at 100gp to Person B
Person B: Buys the Cats for 200K. Person A receives the money for this.
Person B then Attacks Person A and Person A wins without losing a troop(gains 20K Pres).
Person B Sells enough Resources at Max to Person A to get their money back.
Person A nets roughly 35K Pres for building the Cats and Killing the Cats.
Process Repeats. Only thing lost in this is the tax on the sales. Potential for abuse here is huge...
