Re: Relaxed Chat restrictions
You guys that are talking about free speech and whether or not kids should be exposed to talk about drugs (or any adult subject for that matter), are IMO, missing the freakin' point!
Game chat was never designed to be a forum for controversial topics of the day. Besides the unnecessary heated arguments it causes (which, I belive, is why it's banned), it just really bogs down WC to the point where players enjoy the game less.
In truth, I think there should be a -greater- number of restrictions on chat, not fewer. Even things like sports, television programs, computers and cars can start heated discussions that really have no business being on an iPhone game chat.
There are sooooo many places to go for stuff like that, I don't understand why you even bother with an iPhone keyboard in a game chat. There are literally millions of chats on thousands of topics all across the Internet (where you can chat to your hearts delight, on a full size keyboard to boot!) Non-game related chats inside a game chat is just annoying.
Frankly, the only reason I can think of to spark these kinds of discussions is precisely to purposely annoy people. I think some of the people (and I'm not pointing fingers at anyone specific) don't enjoy the discussion as much as they enjoy the arguments they inevitably produce.
And, considering there are almost no restrictions on guild chats, I think the game is quite lax enough.
