Morality

So as many of us have received or heard of this news I'm sure. Osama Bin Laden is dead however that's not the focus of this thread.

While I was on world chat, in real life, and even here I've heard cheers for him dying. However what does that say about us? We rejoice in a persons death? :| Sure he has done many things either right or wrong but does that give us an excuse to celebrate and rejoice his death? In my opinion that's sickening.

What does this tell you about yourself?
Is this something truly appropriate?
Where will this generation and the
ones to follow end by take example from us?

Just a little something to think about.
For Better or for worse.

Sincerely,

Re: Morality

People are probably celebrating because there country may seem to be that little bit safer ( Which I extremely doubt as I remember somewhere that Osama apparently has a twin). I wouldn't know this for sure as I don't live in the United States so I really don't have a clue about the impact on the people he had there.

Re: Morality

I wouldn’t say I would celebrate that he is dead, I would more say 'good', he deserves all he gets. Think of the Thousands of peoples lives he has affected, think of the families that have lost loved ones in the 911 attacks, the innocent people’s lives that he has destroyed.

People will celebrate as they will think that justice has been done its just human nature.

Re: Morality

I don't think he thought things that Al-Qaeda did. I think he gave money...
But I'm not sure.
Anyway, if I was American I'd probably be happy is dead (but who knows if he is really dead, or even if he existed...)

Re: Morality

Im American and it's a bittersweet feeling... Im glad our country is safer and he's no longer a threat. I mean, one of my best friends dads was supposed to be in the wtc on 9/11 but he overslept and got caught in traffic and wasn't there. But... He is human. He may have killed others and ordered the death of many, but does that mean we can rejoice in the death of a fellow man?

Re: Morality

I believe the people are cheering because of how it's being magnified. Sure, it's a big step, but the US Government (I'm American) is over playing it I believe to make people feel safe. And it's working. To the point, I believe people are happy because they feel safer, and they believe it will help any loved one lost rest peacefully now as the one who killed them is gone. I don't know, my two sense. Glad to see someone here isn't a mindless 'Osama is dead!!!!' Thank you for proving haypi isn't a bunch of 12 year olds ;P

You got my point. ;)

@Shadowed1 However a family who's lost someone to him doesn't feel happier that he is dead I can assure you.

As for making people feel safer: there's always possibility of retaliation.
For example:
Your alliance leader has been wiped. The alliance declares war on the person who did it and that leads the other alliance into it as well.

Re: Morality

Well yes, but watching newscasts of people at Groud Zero and their comments, it's as if they feel..relieved? That the killer is done harming people and brought to justice.

Re: Morality

His Son is suing the USA! Well, anyway, people I know didn't cheer that he died, they cheered 'cause Justice was inforced. It wasn't murder it was justive for all the people he planned to kill on 9/11!

Re: Morality

At this point we now don't know who is the leader... At least the face (Osama could have been a scapegoat) but now that they have no VIPs to hide what will they focus on now? The world just got more dangerous and we have no name for it... Although it is nice that he was caught... Proabably would have been better to capture instead of shoot on sight
