Firstly hold one finger on copper box
Next click I item with the use button
Then hold down use while still holding copper box
Next let go of copper box then let go of use button.

Have fun opening them again (:

You have to have the secondary item have the use button lit up green, I find gold and crystal key and chests to be best.

V1.51 will be out soon and will make copper boxes usable and other bugs fixed. Just have to be patient (:
