Troop targeting in Command mode

Not sure if anyone brought this up or if this is even a bug, I'm new to the game, and I just recently found out I can command my troops in a battle! (thanks to the guides on the forum) So now when I attack oasis, I'll command my troops manually.

So now here's the problem, when I was commanding my troops, I was able to do two things. 1) set to the troop to go forward, backward or wait, and 2) select which target each troop wanted to kill.

However, when I selected the target for my cats, it never worked. It seemed like it'll attack the target in the front no matter what. Personally I don't mind if this is the case, but I'm just wondering if that's the case, then why bother to have the option to select target? Thanks.

Re: Troop targeting in Command mode

Even though your given the option to target any troop you'd like, if you try to target a troop that's out of your cats range, you'll automatically hit whatever's closest. To maximimize your cats range, upgrade the shooting tech in the tech center. Also for things like cav and inf, they'll always hit the troop closest to them first, and archers go under the same rule as cats.
