Free legendaries with fort 2

Hello everyone,

For free legendaries with fort 2 as talents,

which skills would you choose to tackle the enemies that have advantage element over yours?

For Sphierx, Plantosaurus, Leviathan, I am quite sure to choose STAB skills beause of the weather effect

But for Setanic, Arctica, would you use STAB or Iaijutsu/mind bending/cunning/punishment?

Pls feel free to share your own opinion and builds

Have a nice day!

Re: Free legendaries with fort 2

Monster : Sphierx
Talent : Fortitude-II
Item : Warrior's Headpiece
Skills : Mind-Bending, Super Fire Bomb, Celestial Prayer, Power of Darkness
Reasoning : Because of Sphierx' high MATK, Mind-Bending will be a great move to counter elemental advantages. However, it'll leave you with 3 STAB moves only.

Monster : Leviathan
Talent : Fortitude-II
Item : Sharp Claw
Skills : Punishment, Water Bombs, Rain Prayer, Power of Darkness
Reasoning : Because Leviathan can tank quite a bit of hits, especially with Fortitude-II, I decided to take Punishment, as opponents might use PoD after seeing you have Fortitude-II. Water Bombs is also decided with this in mind; you'll often have more than 5 turns, so Water Torrent would run out of pp too often.

Monster : Plantosaurus
Talent : Fortitude-II
Item : Sharp Claw
Skills : Poison Leaves, Iaijutsu, Celestial Prayer, Power of Darkness
Reasoning : Plantosaurus' ATK is 24 higher than his MATK at Level. 60, that's why I picked Iaijutsu over any Magical Skill. Also, the monster that have the elemental advantage, Fire and Ice, usually have high MDEF. You might want to consider changing Poison Leaves to Lethal Powder+1.

Monster : Gryphion
Talent : Fortitude-II
Item : Sharp Claw
Skills : Mind-Bending, Thunderstorm, Power of Darkness, Wind Blast
Reasoning : Because of its high Speed, Wind Blast can throw your opponents off balance really well. I picked Mind-Bending because Earth, the monster with elemental advantage, have high DEF, neither Iaijutsu nor Frenzied Attack would deal a large amount of damage.

Monster : Setanic
Talent : Fortitude-II
Item : Warrior's Headpiece
Skills : Iaijutsu, Massive Boulder, Sand Storm, Power of Darkness
Reasoning : Pretty straight forwarded build, however, a nice tip is to cast Sandstorm repeatedly when your opponent is trying to change the weather. Because of your low Speed, you'll usually go last. This might drain your weather skill faster, but it'll leave your opponent with around 40% damage!

Monster : Arctica
Talent : Fortitude-II
Item : Iron Shield
Skills : Mind-Bending, Aurora Borealis, Blizzard, Polish+1
Reasoning : I chose Polish because a stacked Polish+1 (casted about 2-3 times) can 1-hit most monsters, even elemental advantage ones. The rest is quite self explanatory, Mind-Bending will help with your high MATK.

Hope this is all you wanted to know, if not, I'll gladly hear it!

Re: Free legendaries with fort 2

Thx Koenaj! Always helpful!

For Sphierx, Levi and Planto,
Will the effect of weather+STAB override the damage of non-STAB moves?

For Gryphion, its matk is much lower than atk,
Will mind bending doing impressive damage?
And also with fort2, is wind blast necessary?
as it don't need to blow the earth mobs away now.

For Setanic, I have seen a build like MB+5, MB+2, Sandstorm, PoD,
How do you comment on this build over using Iaijutsu?

Actually I also concern the frequency of using the skill,
as the non-STAB moves are only against element of weakness.
For mobs that don't have a stronger element over you,
most of the case STAB would be better...

O...Sorry for throwing out so much questions
Hope I won't make you feel annoyed
Again thx for helping and much appreciated! :D

Re: Free legendaries with fort 2

STAB + Weather will always deal a ton of damage, no matter the elements. And like you point out in a later question, you won't face elemental advantages only right? However, it's up to you in the end, keep in mind that this is just my approximation.

I myself use Mind-Bending on my Gryphion, solely because most Earth monsters have a significantly lower MDEF. (48 difference for Setanic and 61 difference for Minotaur!)
Also, you said you won't need to blow your opponents away, as you have Fortitude-II.
However, who says they have to know you have Fortitude ;)? They'll probably try to switch back, giving you a free hit!

Ofcourse Massive Boulder is strong on a Setanic, but you'll have to rely on Sandstorm 24/7. You'll also need two turns to set up, as you have to cast PoD and Sandstorm. You might want to try both though.

Obviously, STAB moves would be better, and usually a safer choise. However, that is exactly the problem a lot of people have in PvP. They keep their builds too plain and boring. Try some variation! Give Plantosaurus Lethal Powder + Photosynthesis and watch people struggle! Give a tank like Leviathan Waterspout and he can be lethal! (I'm not a big fan of counters myself, so I didn't include Waterspout :?)

Be original and people won't know how to respond!

Re: Free legendaries with fort 2

Don't underestimate Wind Blast, it's great for messing around with your opponents. Also since Griff can't cast weather himself he can get into situations where you want to bounce a weather caster or monster with weather advantage outta the ring for a hit.

Leviathan with Fort-II is kind of an insane tank, very often running out of all my Water Torrent and Water Bombs PP, that said I have Soak and not PoD, but replacing Water Torrent with a higher PP move would be a good idea. I'd almost consider dropping Rain Prayer for another attack or Soak/PoD (so you have both) unless you have an Electric monster to follow. Though often you will only get 0-2 turns with Rain up for your Electric monster due to Levi's survivability running out the Rain turns.

My Setanic is under developed with Invalidate and all the moves it learns on it's own. That said with it's insane attack and defense it still does really well. I'd consider not even bothering with Fort-II on him.

Re: Free legendaries with fort 2

id rather put thunderstorm on gryph rather than mind bending on "ladder"
cos earth element wont cast sand storm (execept for weather mino) and they will use mb immediately, since they will have debuff from mb ur gryph with pod can kill them. just my opinion ehehe

and sorry for being noob what's the meaning of stab? ehehe thnx

Re: Free legendaries with fort 2

STAB stands for Same Type Attack Bonus.
Basically saying that a Fire monster using a 90 Power Fire move will deal 90 * 1.5 damage.
If it were to use a 90 Power Physical move it would deal 90 * 1.0 damage.

Also, regarding the builds, like I said earlier, they are built to my own liking, you obviously all have your own preferences and experience.
