How does PVP work?

Hi all,

I am interested to know how does PVP matching works.

Correct me if I am wrong. I know that,

1. All opponents you are matched to are online.
2. They are from the same sever.
3. Only opponents with similar scores will be matched to you.

If my assumptions are correct, does that means a Rank 1 (2100) player can only fight Rank 2 (2070), Rank 3 (2060) and probably Rank 4 (2010) if and only if these Rank 2, 3 and 4 players are online?

In other words, the Rank 1 player will not have any -natural- opponents no matter how long he waits as long as Rank 2, 3 and 4 decides not to PVP.

Likewise for Rank 2. If Rank 1, 3 and 4 decides to store their score and not PVP then he will not be able to meet any opponent?

Re: How does PVP work?

ur mainly right, the point about similar opponent arent. while you will be matched against someone at similar score, the score isnt the closest player in rank to you, but all the players in a range of ranking points, fx 1k-1500 can be matchet, 1500-2000 can be matched, and 2000-25000 ranked players can me matched.

its not of that big of an importance anymore since the highest pvp reward is at 2200, but back when you needed 2500 for splashy, from what ive heard on my server the 2500 point match was the last possible match to find until reset, if you won ofc.

allso monthly rating seem to have some sort of affect on matchmaking, ive a couple of times been matched against 1700 ranked players, that last month was 2000+ while i was 2100+ same week.

Re: How does PVP work?

I see. Thank you, kirbyskiller.

More questions:

I heard that 2v2 PVP (with a friend teammate) does not affect scores. Is this true? Then is the matching system for this mode the same?

I am very curious because in my sever, the Rank 1's scores jumps (by 50-100) while the scores for Rank 2, 3, 4 and 5 remain fairly constant.

I have also talked to Rank 2 and 3. They haven't been able to match anyone. Rank 5's score is about 2001. According to matching system then, he is the last possible person Rank 1 can fight. Again, if his score remains fairly constant, is there any explanation for the huge jump in Rank 1's score?

By the way, I am Rank 4 and I haven't been able to match anyone as well.

Correct casper, 2v2 does not increase/decrease ones score, but the same score rules apply. The matches are found based on the scores of the highest Scored player in the rooms.

To answer your question on how I, and a few others, manage to jump from 2050 to 2150 in a short period of time is , and I'm not happy to say it, but it's the only way to legitimately get a score in a dead Server, by sniping off lower leveled people that are 1900+ Score.
Finally back on track and ready to help you guys :D!

Re: How does PVP work?

believe it or not, i have actually never tried 2v2 pvp :( tho for what i know it dosnt give rating, and most people tend to far honor by 2v2 pvping, since they wont reach a rating where they will start to loose.

now for the rank 1 significant higher than the remainings, this is the same for my server as well. and theres 2 ways to do this.

1 you simply get boostet, you and the other guys quick start at the same time and gets matched, and 1 looses on purpose. NOW i do not acuse anyone of anything, and i know its not the case on my server :) but im aware some people do it organized.

the other possible reason is that he plays alot and is pretty superior to the rest of you guys, and probadly knows what monsters you are using. this way he can be online alot just sitting in the pvp room and when he see's som1 creating a room he will make a party to win against it, and quickly matchup.
this way he will only pvp against people he already knows he can win against, and he has a prepared setup for it :)

the last part is quet tricky, the ranking system does not automaticly opdate when ur game is open, meaning you wont be able to see reason happening decrading in points, which means you need to close the app and relaunch it for a proper view of how it is.
in my experience its quet easy for a 1990 rank to win a game and once in a while cross the 2k border, just to loose next game to a highrated player, that thereby will gain rating while no1 in top 5-10 loosing any.

for matching up, i suggest you friend everyone on top 10 and keep an eye on whos online, and when a pvp room for one of them is created, and quick starting og matching up in a similar room with same 2v2 or 1v1 :) and remember to create a room urself whenever you're looking for a match, so people know som1 is quing up, its way harder to find an opponent by pressing quick start, because people will think the pvp room is emty.

- note that ive never actually been ahead in rating so there might be other ways or factors im clueless about, its just my personal take on it :)

Re: How does PVP work?

kirbyskiller: No wonder my honour is always so low. I didn't know there's a way to farm honours without capping the rating.

Koenaj: There is no shame in killing lower level players. All's fairs in PVP. Even potions, even though I don't use them.

Thanks guys. Maybe I'm just not camping long enough.

Re: How does PVP work?

If this hasnt been mentioned, no Bots passed 2k score.
So once you hit 2k you have to have strategy to beat living players.
