Suggestions to developers
I'm playing monster wartune, which is a spin-off of haypi. This post is intended for developers and developers only. From talking to the support, it looks like haypi developers are also in charge of monster wartune as well.
Currently, there are less than 5 active players playing this game and this was launched only 4 months ago.
A lot of players in the U.S. started playing this game at first. What turned people off, however, was the ridiculous pricing of in-app purchases.
I do not understand how this price has survived in other regions of the world, but at least in the U.S., you're competing with already well established games of similar genre from gumi and mobage. I've already made multiple suggestions through in-game support option to implement following changes. I'll write them again to re-iterate my view since I'd love to see this game gain more popularity.
1. Increase the chance of OEL / Decrease the cost to buy epic monsters from the monster-enclyopedia
I'm currently ranked 1 in the server and honestly do not need any more OEL to maintain this position.
The reason I say that you should increase the chance for OEL is the following.
When a new player joins a game and purchases a few orange eggs, they quickly realize that the chance to get a legendary is extremely slim. The way you have made this game works such that players interact at only one place and that is ladder.
When they realize that they have no hope of beating other players that have orange egg legendary, they quickly lose interest in playing the game and all quit.
I've seen this happen past 4 months. Give players something fun to play with (legendary monsters) so that everyone could participate in the ladder to top spots. Your support keeps saying players are guaranteed a legendary monster every 110 crack. That is roughly 500 dollars.
No sane person will spend that amount of money on a digital content. At best, this kind of aggressive in-app purchase will get 1 out of 100 players.
This game (monster wartune) already has not enough popularity in the app store. Your primary goal shouldn't be to milk whatever few players you already have. It should be to make the game more enjoyable to new players so that they will bring more friends into the game. From looking at haypi monster, I realize this is what you guys did back when you only had up to sealed space. People started losing interest as you introduced stronger and stronger monsters.
You will not make enough money to keep this game operating with less than 10 active players. Look at the games that actually are making tons of money. Quantity is always better than quality in online games.
If you don't adjust the pricing of in-app purchases, I doubt monster wartune will have any active players in another 4 months. At the very least, you won't have me.
2. Increase the rate at which advanced skill books are dropped.
I understand that you would like to have the content last as long as possible so you won't have to update the game as often.
However, lowering the chance for advanced books shouldn't be the method used. The game already has so much potential with the PVP and ladder. If you increase the chance for advanced books, players will have more monster builds that they can try out. This will keep players happy.
Low chance for advanced books mean players will have to run the expert modes for days, if not weeks, to get the books they want. This IS BORING. No one wants to play a BORING game. Don't force players to wait 24 hours to rush 10 levels for 5 minutes, just to find bunch of crystals. This is really what's killing the game. Increase the chance for advanced books so we can build multiple versions of monsters to try different versions of them. Tweak them a little by little. That'll keep players happy while they battle each other.
Ask around, and I can guarantee you that no one would quit because they are bored of trying out every combination of monsters in the game.
Most players quit because the game is way too slow and the in-app purchase prices are just ridiculously high.
You can just ignore it, and see the game fail like it did in Haypi, or implement the changes, and witness more active players playing the game.
