It's just bad AI that I don't think the programmers meant to happen this way.
If invalidate is present the mob should not cast pod at all. This already serves its purpose. Rather then having it cast over and over again till it dies.

Also the AI is not consistent. If you have neon fighting scythe it will boulder instead of casting pod. Same thing with fenrir, it's smart enough to hold off casting pod sometimes.

Exactly! The talents should just prevent Power of Darkness being casted. I really don't understand why the monsters keep using the skill when they know it won't have any effect.

With regards to monsters using offensive skills with types that are at an advantage over the opponent's monster, I think this is exactly what they are aiming for. Since you're at an advantage, what's the point of prolonging the battle when you can just use your skill to kill the opponent in a few turns? I think this is actually a part of their code that if the type of your monster is at an advantage, it will kill the opponent's monster with its same type move without needing to use supplementary skills.
