Golf coins

I came across a rare item on the spinner but I didn't have any coins so I bough 50 for $4.99. I spun for 2, any agin for 4, and again for 6, and one last time for 8. I spent a total of 20, leaving me with 30. Or so I thought, when I was back at the home screen my balance read 10 coins. I'm not sure how this happened. Help.
