prologue competition
Our story begins in the one place you thought it wouldn't start, at the top.
Our hero starts in a kingdom, a place of wonder and fantastic creatures, his fathers kingdom. At this point our hero is less than what we would like him to be, at this point he is only a boy. Pampered and spoiled for years not realizing what is beyond the gates of his fathers own perfection. Until one day when a robbed traveler begs for food and is turned away by the rich and pompous father. From the nearby corridor the child realizes that his father is no more righteous then the bandits that stole from the traveler in the first place. The boy runs from the dark and hands the man a large piece of manna. The traveler looks at the boy and sees light in him one that was not in his father’s. There was a sudden flash of brightness and the adventurer transformed in to an indescribable creature and grabbed the boy and flew him away to a far off island inhabited by creatures even more wonderful than the first, they all bowed before the boy. He did not understand what had happened. One of the creatures saw this and explained to him how his father would soon become an evil ruler and that his darkness would spread across the world because of his son's absence, for that was the last pure thing he had left. They asked the boy what he would do. He replied " I will become a king and save the land that the man, that I once thought my father, rules ". The creatures gave him a hand crafted vessel to set out upon his journey. However when the child stepped on to the ship it turned him into a young man prepared to face the world. But as the craft departed from the land he asked the creatures why they have done this. They replied " to show you the truth which shall lead you to your unimaginable fate. As the man investigates his ship he finds 8 indentations on a panel next to the wheel and a large bag filled with what looked like supplies curious, but fatigued he decided to investigate in the morning. When first light shown through his chamber windows he realized something strange the ship had to be enchanted, for it was submerged under the depth of the ocean. Fully rested he set out to claim his birth right.
