Wallflower Haypi Adventure Prologue Contest Entry #4

You stand in the parlor, thinking how foolish it is to hold back tears when there is nothing in the double caskets. The tempest destroyed everything you had. Your mother had always wanted to see the ocean, so your father took her with his fleet of merchant ships. It was supposed to be the celebration of their success. It became your worst nightmare.

Save for one ship docked for repairs, all your father left you was the junk in his offices. You spend night after night deciding what to keep, what to sell, and what to throw away. Until you come across a strange document with a note in your father's handwriting, addressing the manuscript to you.

It describes eight sets of priceless archaelogical relics resting on the seabed. Priceless enough to restore the company. But more importantly, when put together, they form a key that can open a door to the future. But your father was no treasure hunter. How did he intend to pull them off the ocean floor? You ponder this until you also find the sketches for a vehicle you thought only existed in theory -- a fully-submersible boat.

You sell every belonging and invest every scrap of money into building your submarine. You are penniless, but with a little time, a little hard work, you could restore your father's legacy. But do you even have the intelligence, the cunning, the diligence to do so?

Do you?
Start judging.
