Young friends, old enemies ( Haypi article competition )
They grew up together from the same orphanage. Milner and Kentak took the same warrior battle classes as each other and became strong friends. As they grew, they had to take their separate ways. Milner took the path of eXorcism, the strongest and darkest alliance in the land, where as Kentak, took the path of his own in AWE.
One morning came, and suddenly the main chamber door burst open.
"Ken, get yourself down here NOW !"
Milner shouted as she barged her way through into the middle of the chamber. She was closely followed by ScapeGoat (aptly named as he was half goat and half man ) and Distopia ( Milner's mentor ).
Kentak rushed down with his disciples, clearly startled by the presence of the three. He walked to Milner and said:
"Long time no see Milner, hows things? How can I help you?"
And attempted to shake Milners hand.
Milner retracted her hand and pointed a stern finger at Kentak:
Milner: "Did you send this telegraph to everyone in the land? Did you?"
Kentak:"Yes, but nothing came of it"
Milner:"I don't care, you sent it so you will have to be punished"
Kentak:"But .... But ..... "
Then ScapeGoat took a step forward and cackled:
"5000 heads"
Milner looked at Kentak and acknowledged:
Milner: "5000 heads it is"
Kentak could not believe what was happening as ScapeGoat ran to the window to give a signal. Kentak looked out from the window and into the courtyard. Milner had rounded up all of Kentaks soldiers and had blocked them all into the courtyard. There was no escape. ScapeGoat then signalled his archers and with the drop of the hand, the archers launched a suffocating array of arrows into the soldiers. Such was the density, you could barely see through the cloud of arrows. Helplessly, the soldiers dropped to the ground, one at a time, as though they were birds falling from the sky. Within minutes, they were all lying on the floor, lifeless, breathless, in a pool of carcasses.
Kentak turned round and ran to Milner:
Kentak: " How could you? I thought we were friends?"
Milner: "Don't be so naive Ken, you think you know a lot, but in fact you know nothing. Prestige is everything. I don't need to be friends with you."
At that point, Milner turned around, ScapeGoat put his hand around Milner's shoulder and they made their way out from the chamber.
Distopia, a little startled by Milners actions, was still standing in the chamber. She walked over to Kentak and put her hand on his shoulder.
Distopia: " Don't take it personally Ken, she is like that to everyone. I would know, I trained her."
She then turned around and walked out of the chamber.
Still in disbelief as to what had happened, Kentak walked over to the window overlooking the courtyard and shed two tears.
One for the slaughtering of his soldiers.
One for the friend he no longer had.
The moral of the story, prestige changes people.
