Fixing Porting

I am not here to argue that porting is not necessarily a bad thing (it is part of the game)

But I don't see why the Haypi creators made it SO long of a travel distance between other people. It shouldn't take 2-10 hours to get to one side of the map. This makes it impossible to hit anyone to gain big prestige by anything but porting. It seems they should substantially decrease travel time to increase 'activity' on the servers. I wouldn't mind reinforcement options too.

What do you guys think?

Re: Fixing Porting

As well the cost of porting (20) for sub or (40) for main...is just ridiculous. The cost is good if you actually plan to move your city. But if you plain to hit someone to gain let's say 40k prestige...just seems very costly.

Experienced players know a trick called fort warp (or oasis warp). Nathan wrote something about it. viewtopic.php?f=59&t=8376

Re: Fixing Porting

Upgrade your hidden attack and hope you get lucky and have a hidden, 2-10 hours can easily be cut by spreading subs across the map too...

Let's say haypi DID shorten the time it takes to get across the map, say they half the time, this doesn't give the people who travel long distances an advantage, it gives porters an advantage. They can now teleport and hit you with cats as slowest unit in about 10 seconds... Archers as slowest is only about 5 seconds... And if you hit pure cav you get about 2 seconds to hunt your troops ;) and you can still be marching 5 hours for a hit

Re: Fixing Porting

Spreading your sub cities out can easily cut down the time it takes to attack someone across the map.
Although dispatch times take a long time, there is something known as 'oasis jumping', or 'fort jumping'. It's described in Zate's link above.
