Commanding

I don't know if it's just me but commanding is boring. It is almost like your playing a wooden board game. I would like to see if haypi could possibly make commanding a little less boring and make commanding like something you would do on age of empires. In my opinion this would make the game better.

Re: Commanding

In my opinion it's great as is, and involves a lot of strategy as well as skill. Possibly there could be some improvements, though. ;)

Re: Commanding

Yeah the commanding right now is good for strategie, I also agree improvements should be made. Maybe they could keep it so strategie stays the same but it has better improvements.

Re: Commanding

I actually think the strategy is very minimal. You have 4 troop types that can move forward, backward, or stand still. The only stategy involved is choosing which troops to target and when to move yours.

Re: Commanding

Shin-ra, that involves much strategic thinking; will your troops be in range of the enemy? Who will strike first? If you move will you be hit rather than not being hit if you stay? Etc.

Re: Commanding

i think it would be nice to include a left and right option

Re: Commanding

Maybe make a GUI improvement that shows the range of each of your unit types. Different colored lines perhaps(green for infantry, purple for cavalry,etc.). Perhaps also show projections of your actions as in where ur units will move to and what their new range is. Of course, this would only be shown for your troops so you still have to guess what the enemy range is and where they will move to. Also, possibly a chess like strategy board. In the historical ages of combat, a great strat may be to get your cavalry to charge the flank of your enemy why infantry assault the front after the archers and catapults weaken their forces. More dynamic movement rather than just forward backward and wait would make the strategy a bit more complex. With this chess board idea, troops would also need to only be able to attack certain directions, so that you would be required to position units strategically either to defend or attack to counter your enemies positioning. Hope others like these ideas or at least most of them

Re: Commanding

It would make sense if during a battle the commander could send X amount of their total # of Inf, Cav, Arch, Cat forward instead of the whole lot. From this.addition a whole new level of battle strategy would be born and I dont think it would be too difficult to implement.
