Well here's the thing.....if you are expecting the enemy to send a meatshield/s then you are completely resigned to taking losses.
Therefore, youre not concerned about speed or secrecy of attack, so it's easy enough to build a couple cats and archers to accompany the monocav SPECIFICALLY to destroy meatshields.
It never ceases to amaze me, the amount of generals who neglect to consider options to deter the meatshield, which in actuality is not very difficult.
Additionally, no matter what, I have always found it extremely beneficial to maintain at least 12k cats. No mattEr what (short of being COMPLETELY wiped), you will always have at least as many cats as you need to hit a 20k hit, or a mid level fort....(which is all the more important after being hit...)
