Why do nominations still exist?

Every day and night I'm on World Chat, I can always find somebody asking for nominations. People acting nice in front of tons of people who don't know what they're doing. Nominations just clog up chat with people who want to be better than everybody else. Why can't the staff just monitor the chat and keep a watching eye at most times? Instead you look in the nomination threads and there are people with less than 5 posts, some who are nominating themselves.

It's a stupid system. Take notice of players by yourself, Nominations are stupid.

People shouldnt be asking for expert nominations. Also not all servers have experts or just only have 1-2

And that's most of the time. Check the nomination threads. People nominate themselves, make obvious alts, and most nominators have only have 10 posts or less.

This thread doesn't make sense. People "cant" or it's frowned upon to ask for nominations. So if they are asking they are obviously not the right ones to choose. Nominations while sometimes a popularity vote show support which people the server trust to get a job done. At least that's the intended purpose. If the experts are the wrong one believe me support will find out.

Yeah but people don't always ask too, sometimes they "suggest" they should vote for them. Those i hate the most. Constantly being way to kind to people and then reminding them to put in their nominations like they are running for office or something. It always funny too when you see like an alliance leader have like 20 votes from his own alliance too, then plays stupid like he didn't send them all over. It seems like no one that ever gets nominated is chose for expert anyway. Fortunately for me whenever i new server starts the chat is to laggy for me to listen to those people most of the time, I just can't stand it.
