Army Maintenance

Hello everyone,
my name is blkprince and I'm a lvl 17 on server 74. I often get questions about how it is possible to feed/build a large army and I'd like to share with you my methods. If anyone does it differently, please feel free to share, but no trolling if you don't mind.

Here is what I do (no need to follow in any particular order):
1. Maximize the number of cities you can have, make sure the warehouses are at lvl 20.
2. Make sure all of your croplands are lvl 15 in each city(For those willing to spend coins, I recommend you coin(upgrade) your croplands, past lvl 15 and/or enhance your crop production. This is not necessary, but recommended)
3. Upgrade crop tech to lvl 10.
4. Occupy the max number of oases, preferably lvl 9s, or if possible, with the new updates lvl 10 (the 10s will be much much harder to locate though as they are much fewer in number). When occupying them, I recommend you use cats at first while your army is small. But as your army gets bigger and refreshing oases become tedious, I recommend you use cavs as they are 6 times faster than catapults. You will have moderate losses but if you follow my instructions, you will replenish those lost cavs and build much more each day.
5. Browse the area around you for forts. Each fort you find, write the coords somewhere and compose a list on a word doc, piece of paper, or save into coords list. In terms of farming, assuming you have lvl 15 equipment, i recommend you use cavs for lower lvl forts as they are much quicker to farm with and you do not have to command(although u will have losses, they will be minimal and you will still always profit from the loss in terms of resources you get back). for lvl 7 forts and above, I recommend you farm with a cav/cat combo, Using Cats to kill the troops and cars to bring hime the res.
6. This last step is the most beneficial, but in order to take full advantage of it you will need lvl 10 scouting. Browse your map to at least as far as 20 mins distance in every direction from your cities. This will take a while. Scout every lvl 4+ player you find. If they have full whs of resources, assume they're inactive and add their name to a separate list reserved for inactives. If they're sub cities that are a fair distance away from the in actives main, I recommend you write down the coords of that person as well. When you have compiled a sufficient list, go through that list everyday and farm each with cavs. This list may be initially small, but eventually you will find more and more inactives, especially as time passes and people quit. This process will fill all your cities up with resources up to the point where you're limited not by your resources, but by ppl (slaves), So build as often as you can. Go through this same process for each city, filling up resources and building troops, until you can no longer build any more. Personally i build 599 cavs and 249 cats in a city before i switch. Using this process, you will be able to build large amounts of troops a day. With 6 cities, I can build 4.5k cats and 7.2k cavs a day. Basically this is a method that allows you to maintain a huge army and continue building, simply just build, or feed your army. Regardless, you will get a lot of prest. using it. whenever you're running low on food in a city just replenish using an inactive from the list you've compiled.

7. MOST importantly, keep your troops spread out in your cities! You cannot keep a large army just in your main. It has to be spread out in quantities so that each city has a nearly equal amount of hourly crop consumed. Always remember to do this, and be sure your whs are full of food every night before you go to sleep. otherwise there is a good chance you will wake up the next morning to an unpleasant surprise.

If you have any suggestions, comments, or simply want to share your own methods feel free to. Well, I hope you all find this helpful and ty for your time!

Re: Army Maintenance

I am reading this as a guide so next time post in guides section of forum.

Pretty basic information but a good guide for beginners. I would suggest adding or linking people to the guides that say how many troops for each fort maybe. Also some calculations for crop would be nice. Tell people how much crop per hour they will get with 15 crops max tech enhanced and how large of an army they'll be able to support with different hour feeding times. You have the basics but try to add some stuff that makes your guide a bit more helpful.

Re: Army Maintenance

In terms of feeding times, players should preferably be able to set their own consumption goals and limits as they build their army. It's different for each person and mainly depends on how much time you're willing to devote/ times willing to go on a day.

Re: Army Maintenance

Lol I know it depends on the player but often times people don't understand negative crop.

For example, say you can only log on once per day. So you want a 24 hr feed time. This allows for a negative crop of 18700 per city. Assume you have 5 cities (by the time you get the 6th most people understand this and often times lower than that you don't want to sustain a big army if you're new). Each city with lvl 15 crop and lvl 10 tech produces a bit more than 10,000 crop per hour. Lowest level for 5 cities is 13 so let's assume you're level 13 and can have 7 oasis. Each one at level 9 produces 7400 crop per hour. So you can support...

5(cities) * 10,000(crop output/city) + 9(oasis) * 7400 (crop output/city) + 5(cities) * 18700(negative crop output/city) = 210,100

You can support 20k cats feeding once per day. Not many people realize that.
