I think the way it works is each monster has a base 'value', generally the rarer the larger value. Blobs have a very high value of a specific stat.
So with a base value as a starting point, either the level of the monster or the stats of the monster can affect the amount of stats you can get.
For instance, I get maybe 3 pixel widths more of ATK when I use a level 13 E- Frizz vs a level 1 E- Frizz. Very very minimal difference.
So that said, you would get more of an increase for a lvl 50 blob, but it will probably be very small and not worth the time. What might make a bigger difference is if you increase the blobs quality by sacrificing monsters to it, then sacrificing the blob to your main monster.
