Researching Multiple Talents?

After researching more than one talent all the way, are you capable switching between the unlocked talents at no penalty?

I evolved my Ablaze without unlocking the talent so I am still rune starved at this point in the game.

you are able to switch between them but of the cost of 1 rune gem, specific for you're monster so if its a legendary a premium runegem, etc.
