Re: Market Falling!! Y'all Read!

I"m going to do an experiment on purposely raising the market prices. It being based on average sales that are SOLD. It probably won't last long though..It'll be a large time investment to keep the market prices up bc it seems to me that the market prices were doomed by default bc of people wanting to undercut the market to sell their items not realizing that doing this will lower the prices at a constant rate. The cycle repeats... sigh...

When I'm playing I always check the market and try to buy up the "cheap" resources just so prices don't keep falling, but 1 player can't fix the problem as hard as I try.

Re: Market Falling!! Y'all Read!

At this point in the older servers, there really is no "fixing" the market without changing the game somehow. There are too many people that are just dumping resources because they don't need them. I myself have more or less maxed out two of my cities, and sometimes I ship off some needed resources to my developing cities, but for the most part I am selling the excess in the market.

On server 4, a month or two ago, I would agree that you could try to prop up prices by buying them for cheap then reselling them for a higher price, but right now, I think the tide has just turned too far in the other direction. If the inactives were flushed and replaced with a new crowd of resource hungry new players, then we might see some change, but even then the new player demand would probably be way smaller than the supply established players can throw out there.

On server 4 in particular, you can't give away stone. even at one cent, there are just throngs of people trying to sell stone. I had stone out there in a relatively small qty for two weeks and no one bought it.

Re: Market Falling!! Y'all Read!

If you want to try and up the price ask everyone in your alliance to put up 100 of each resource at the max price and leave it on the market - and get them to spread the word.

This may not work effectively though due to people selling resources at a lower price constantly.. There'll always be someone willing to buy and/or sell at lowest price. So unless majority of the players (in the server) agree to stop undercutting, it's best we deal with the marketplace as is currently.

You didn't read my earlier post. Market prices are based on the average price sold. You're ADDING to the market problem...

That won't work unless you have people BUY those resources.

Re: Market Falling!! Y'all Read!

If you got a whole alliance to buy resources at the lowest price, then you might be able to raise prices. But you would have to be very quiet about it, and probably do it slowly. You could then resell those resources at a much higher price, essentially parking them. What I think would happen though, is that after awhile, people would catch on and realize they could just sell at one tick lower than the supported rate and immediately have their stuff bought. At some point, you have to equilibrium between supply and demand.

I have thought about writing a script that would try to prop the market up automatically, and have an idea as to how I could do so, but the time it would take is just too much.
