Great idea there's not much more you can add to these ideas I hope that they will consider them!:)

If forts were barbarian outposts then when you capture one it could sometimes revolt if something makes the barbarians unhappy.
Also, if you keep one for long enough the barbarians become tame and the fort turns in to a full city, regardless of your city quota. This would make people want to defend their forts.

WOW i think Aub ideas should be added to the expansion of the Hay-pi game soon, this game is becoming a bit boring. Aubs idea if implemented would benefit the player as well as the game executives.

I believe there should be ' ' Ghost NPC cities' ' that show up randomly for a limited amount of time. These cities could give out valuable treasures such as armour,gems and manuals etc. The cities should be as fortified as a normal fort to encourage players to attempt to capture them, and the treasures would vary in value according to thier levels.
If these cities would appear, the servers that they are in would be notified of the location and time limit.

Kcmathews, I like your idea, except the forts seem a little repetitive (normal fort, oasis), and Aubergine, the barbarian npc city addition sounds really good.
