Re: Avoiding by acronyms?

I don't think we are even discussing mutes here, but rather what's considered inappropriate.
The mute factor comes in to play once you ignore - several times - a request from an expert to stop doing something.
Nothing should get as far as a mute in the first place.

What is inappropriate is different to all. I have watched people asking to explain the meaning behind above mentioned acronyms and WC turn into discussions about this which rarely ended wholesomely.

I myself use these in private chats and alliance chat as well as on palringo etc where I feel like it, but I can keep it out of world chat easily without feeling like my rights were stripped away.

Re: Avoiding by acronyms?

I do the same adina.....it seems people want to argue the freedom of speech alot here on haypi, and don't seem to care about others feelings, age or upbringing. It's quit frustrating to have to repeat arguments and retorts over and over...sigh

I say that they should be glad with the many rights they have...
It's a veritable communism after all! There's no rights of any individual country (least of all America) and we don't care if they don't care about anything. They break rules, they get whipped back into line. They don't do these things at their school or in front of their parents, so they shouldn't do it here either. Kids these days...

Re: Avoiding by acronyms?

If they didn't mean to to be a swear word then they wouldn't have made it an acronym an would have just said fudge or whatever anyway.

Keep it on the mute list.

And shade you make it sound like a concentration camp....

I realize I'm the only player making counter-arguments. I don't mean to be spammy but I kinda hi-jacked this thread due to experts responding quickly as they browse forums often...

Ink, On the surface it appears I'm fighting for freedom of speech. I'm not. I understand I have no rights as a player. I play at the whim of those who made the game and those who run it. I accept that. I enjoy this game. My friends enjoy this game. We, and players like us enjoy it drastically less when nitpicky slaps on the wrist are dished out for minor infractions, or in the case of aconyms, no infraction at all is committed. Players already perceive many experts to be overly intolerant and stuck up and that perception is strengthened week after week by newly created limitations on speech. These players already feel like the experts have it out for them, and they probably do, so when they're muted for this kind of thing they say, to hell with this game. At that point they leave and then their friends leave and ultimately the game or more really, that specific server suffers all because you were protecting someones age or upbringing? Bashing is one thing. The kind of thing we're talking about is Saturday morning tv rated. You pawn it off like I'm arguing for free speech. Look deeper babe... Wow that was long.

You should mmake a folder for it lol xD

but on a more serious note,i do agree with the exerts on this thread.i am a player,i am not an expert.i wish for wtf to be kept on the **stared list.if i glance at the acronym in wc,my initial thought is "hmm What the F***"
never do i see anybody use it otherwise.
and i do agree with adina,u DONT have to say things in world chat.its not impeding on ur freedom as a player to be limited on what u can say in wc.
i do believe that if people would just reserve those things for ac there would be less trouble. And then the leader can decide what he wishes to do with it.
its not controlling the palyer, its merely telling u want u can or cant do in this game.and if u do something inappropriate, and it is deemed by the expert to be too inappropriate according the the rules, the the expert reserves the right to mute u.

Re: Avoiding by acronyms?

My moto in wc is 'show respect to get respect'....I have never in my expert or mod experience, put someone down except for the rare occurance when someone is bashing me and I make it clear that I will not tolerate any obnoxious childish behaviour. The players are not at the mercy of the experts, we are players as well, and I do realize that there has been/are some experts who over react and go power crazy....which is why we have the report section. It is dissapointing, though, to see so many complaints about expert actions that were justifyied but the player is an authority hater and wants to argue. Anywho, I got off track.....the rules are set by admin, it is our job to make sure players follow them. We get alot of complaints but can't change the rules because SOME people think they should be able to talk in any manner they wish
