rules!

I'll be a little more serious then some but it's the same point. Haypi needs a set of rules for both players and experts to follow.

From everything I have heard, and a bit of what I've seen, experts are making up their own rules. Deciding that some things get an "instant mute". This, IMO is unacceptable.

What needs to happen is haypi needs to decide a list of things that should get one a mute. Experts should follow that list, give warnings, and mute. If an expert mutes for other things(thus abusing their power) they should be removed.

Please feel free to post your opinions.

Re: rules!

I think that the warnings given by an expert is a privilege to the player who is to be muted. Some experts mute instantly when a rule is avoided or if someone abuses the censor by posting many words or spamming in chat. Some experts give warnings to people who are usually nice but was mad and made one mistake and accidentaly cussed. Swearing is against the rules so why say it? Avoiding the filter makes it worse so most of the time they deserve to be muted instantly if rule is not followed.

Re: rules!

Experts together are currently pushing for the exact same thing.

We are requesting a global letter be sent to all players clearly outlining the rules.
Fingers crossed, this is exactly what we get.

Not sure if you realised, but these elephant (grey) rules are hard for us to bear, too.

Re: rules!

The rules are pretty clear, although I voted for clearer rules. Some people are confused and think they're getting muted for no reason. I think they should just be clearer for those that don't quite understand their offenses, rather than sending a global message to all players.
IM's are given, because people keep commiting the same offense in world chat. Such as the fail whale. People need to understand the instant mutes are being given simply because numerous amounts of haypi members are constantly posting this, and it is considered spamming. I'm sure many of them know it's spamming, and yet they insist on posting the fail whale.
Lobbying for the rid of "Instant Mutes" is useless, because the experts are left to decide what is inappropriate. So far I have yet to see an innappropriate/unnacceptable instant mute.

Re: rules!

I really don't understand what needs clarification. If anything the experts should be more harsh. It's annoying when there is a room full of people cursing and you have experts verbally warning the same people ovvvverrr and ovveerrr. It's pretty obvious if someone is being obscene and they honestly shouldn't even get a warning. Mute them instantly, it will prevent them from trying to put on a show. They'll eventually get it.

They can sit and be disgusting in chat knowing that if an expert comes on they'll pretty much get notified so then they'll stop.

Re: rules!

My point was not to do with giving warnings or not. It was not for muting for swearing either. It's for muting for other things that are not against any rule. Fail whale for example is not against any rule. If haypi makes a rule against it, that's fine. But they have not.

Re: rules!

Re: rules!

I think that needs to be a clause, similar to the "admins may add or change rules at any time" clause, added to the rules that says that any behavior, in the opinion of admin/mod/experts, that detracts from the overall chat room experience, is subject to a mute.

Every server is different, so I believe that the experts should be able to adapt to the server and do their job according to the nature of the server.

Re: rules!

Was trying to delete this post, but oh well...

What bugs me are the people that aren't 'technically' breaking any rules, but ride the line by phrasing words in such a way it can be taken multiple ways. While everyone knows what the player means and is up to, the person can't 'technically' be muted. Thus they rant and misbehave for hours without so much as a warning...

Making rules for rules.

If people didn't follow them in the first place why would they then?
