Haypi Buy-Out Bot

I believe that there should be a buy-out bot on market to try and stabilize the prices. If the market is dipping or several posts are below market value the bot would step in. Also, it could occaisonally help raise the market a cent or two. Last, the tech prices could swing with the market, making it easier to research technology.

Actually If you think about this it's not a bad idea at all I like it something needs to be done about the low resource market!:)

Re: Haypi Buy-Out Bot

The only problem I see with this is the fact that the market is a free market and there are no lifelong established prices. If this happens then there would be a false demand for the resources and it would no longer be a free market. People could also abuse this by posting resources at low prices so they get the money immediately from the bot. This would also eliminate resources from the market, making the others disappear altogether and eliminating the "buying" part of the market. There needs to be more restrictions before this would be considered. However, this is only MY opinion so don't immediately think your idea is shot down. I realize your goal is to make it easier for people to make money but this could also create some holes and things for people to abuse.

Re: Haypi Buy-Out Bot

The idea might work, however I would prefer to see the minimum price fluctuate instead of an auto-buy bot. Either way something needs to be done to help revive the markets. It is getting very tough to upgrade techs when the most expensive resource on the market is .03 and still dropping.

Re: Haypi Buy-Out Bot

I figured out in theory how one could write such a bot but I am not sure that it will do much good in markets where there everything is $.01-.03. In those markets, supply just overpowers demand. It would require a large amount of $$ as seed capital as well.

On mature servers, there is little demand for resources, but hundreds of people players that have little need for resources in their maxed out cities. Its hard to counteract that with a bot.

Re: Haypi Buy-Out Bot

The bot would buy low priced resources. Then when those are gone it would buy the next lowest resources and would keep going until resources are in the billions of dollars!!!

Re: Haypi Buy-Out Bot

This idea, the it is posted, will never fly. As Taylor Mentioned, there would have to be a lot of other stuff programmed in to make this work.
Couple of things needed to make this work:
1) Time restriction - The bot only buys from the market, say once an hour.
2) Only functions when there aren't X amount of transactions per hour. If the Demand is there, no need to use the bot.

I see this idea as having potetial but needs more restrictions as said above

Re: Haypi Buy-Out Bot

Once you have the actual functionality of buying and selling, putting in parameters to control how the bot operates is simple (well at least for me, its more or less what I do for a living). The hard, time consuming part, IMHO is sniffing the network to see how to query the marketplace, and send in buy and sell orders. I actually tried to do this, but realized my wireless card won't enter promiscuous mode.

One could in theory make a lot of $ from such a bot. One could also lose all their money very quickly with such a bot as well :)
