Re: Haypi kingdom on pc
1) A game such as HK would not translate too well to PC as it is designed specifically for mobile devices. PC games are usually more robust i.e. Evony. I don't foresee mobile devices having the capacity any time soon to handle that level of complexity. I maybe wrong, but I would think there would be significant performance issues.
2) HK would need to start charging customers to play, hence killing the main player base. AOL's old mmorpg "Neverwinter Nights" can atest to this one as when it went from free to a monthly charge (think it was $5) 95% of the player base left over night. The game was shut down within the month.
3) Employees at Apple stores don't make those types of decisions. Those usually come from the corporate offices.

Neverwinter Nights is still around :/ and it's still in fact free to play online.
I've seen plenty of apps available online as well, they're just not as in-depth online as they would've been had they originated there.

LOL...I can't image the original NWN is still online. It was essentially an arrow (you) moving around dungeons and cities made up of lines, which were the walls. Very 2D, but that was acceptable 15-20 years ago. Only 300 people were allowed on at once otherwise there would be too much lag.
I know the new NWN and it actually isn't a bad game to play...campaign mode at least.

I still play the original occasionally, you can find it all over the internet.

Great idea I don't have my iPod on me all of the time so this would be great if I were on a trip etc.

This is getting off topic, but that is awesome. I thought it was gone...I'll need to go find it now.

My friend played this on his computer because he didn't have a iPod
Re: Haypi kingdom on pc
While the suggestion is appealing, I am not in favor of allowing the game to be played on a computer. Admittedly, It would be convenient. I've forgotten my phone at home after left for work a few times and had to wait until I got home to access my account. I got attacked quite a bit those days.
However, my experience playing games like Haypi Kingdom have made me opposed to this suggestion. About a year and half ago, I was addicted to an iPhone game very similar to this one. It too started on just iPhones and iPods. After I had been playing it for several months, the company allowed the game to be played on computers too.
It was disastrous. People hacked like crazy. The servers were always having problems. However, the worst thing was the bots. People made bots that would play them game for while they were offline. It made the game unplayable, and I lost all enjoyment out of it. The developers kept trying to fix the game, but there were CONSTANT problems.
I played this other game for over 6 months. I quit a month after the game went online. I wouldn't have quit if the game hadn't gone computers and become SO awful. Nearly all the longtime, very active players quit because the game had become unbearable. The game never recovered.
Although the computer option might be convenient, I don't think it is worth running the risk of the game falling apart like this other one did. I'd rather lose some troops due to a forgotten phone than lose the fun I have playing the game.

Point 1: You clearly dont know what you're talking about, it would actually be quite easy to create a desktop client. They already have a connection interface which the mobile clients use to connect. They would only have to build a client that interprets that same data and they would be done.
Point 2 & 3: You're completely right if the would replace the micro paymebt system for a monthly payment system they would lose about all of their customer base. Apple is a multi-billion dollar company no one on the ground floor of such companies calls shots like that. Those decisions are made by the executives.
But I personally find it quite annoying that HK has no desktop client. This way I always have to cary my phone arround.
