I never use to post at all. I'd just move em without saying a word, but the problem with that is that people magically think that their thread has been deleted. So as a remedy, I "bump" the thread and notify whoever is posting in it that the thread is in a different location now.
A forum post should be like a skirt. Long enough to cover the subject material, but short enough to keep things interesting.
